Alabama is enjoying a sunny and cool Thanksgiving Day, with dry weather settling across the state. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the 50s, making for a crisp but pleasant holiday. Skies will remain clear throughout the day.
Colder conditions will develop overnight as a freeze is forecast to extend into southern counties. By Friday morning, temperatures are expected to drop into the 25–35°F range, creating one of the coldest starts of the season.
The dry pattern will continue tomorrow and Saturday, bringing cool afternoons and chilly nights. Clouds will begin to thicken late Saturday as the next weather system approaches from the northwest.
Rain is expected to move into northwest Alabama late Saturday night and spread statewide by Sunday morning. With cool, stable air in place, thunderstorms are not anticipated. Rain will gradually end from the northwest Sunday afternoon, with weekend highs ranging between 48–58°F.
