KARACHI – The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Karachi Police apprehended a suspected car thief following an alleged armed encounter near Pracha Graveyard in Qasba Colony during the late hours between Monday and Tuesday.
According to police sources, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Mohsin Ali, son of Ghulam Shabbir, sustained injuries during the exchange of fire and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Chhipa ambulance.
A spokesperson for Karachi Police revealed that the accused is affiliated with the Amjad Lashari gang, which has been involved in the theft of 10 to 12 vehicles across Karachi. The stolen vehicles were reportedly sold in Mashk, Balochistan.
During the operation, police recovered a stolen car, a firearm with ammunition, mobile phones, and cash from the suspect’s possession.
Cases related to the recovered weapon and the police encounter are being registered at Peerabad Police Station. Raids are underway to apprehend the suspect’s accomplices and recover additional stolen vehicles.
