LONDON: Taylor Swift has once again taken the global music scene by storm, soaring straight to the top of the UK charts with her latest album The Life of a Showgirl. The pop icon’s 12th studio album has shattered several records, underscoring her unstoppable reign in the world of music.
Released just last week, the album debuted at No. 1 on Friday, while three of its tracks simultaneously claimed the top three spots on the UK singles chart a rare feat in British music history. Within just 11 hours of release, it became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025.
Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the album’s commercial success has been nothing short of phenomenal. According to the Official Charts Company, The Life of a Showgirl became Swift’s 14th UK No. 1 album, securing 423,000 combined chart units within a week the biggest opening of 2025 and Britain’s strongest first-week performance since Ed Sheeran’s Divide in 2017
The success doesn’t stop there. It’s also the largest opening by an international artist this century and set multiple records across formats including most first-week album downloads and highest one-week streaming total, with 84,000 stream-equivalent sales.
On vinyl, the singer achieved another milestone with 126,000 copies sold, making it the UK’s fastest selling vinyl album of the century and the biggest single-week vinyl sale since 1994.
The album’s opening track, The Fate of Ophelia, leads the singles chart, followed by Opalite and Elizabeth Taylor at No. 2 and No. 3. “Her list of achievements this week is extraordinary,” said Martin Talbot, CEO of the Official Charts Company. “It’s comfortably the biggest first week of her career in the UK.”
Swift’s dominance extended beyond Britain in Australia, all 12 tracks entered the ARIA singles chart’s top 12, while the album itself claimed the No. 1 spot on the albums chart. More global chart records are expected to fall in the coming days as The Life of a Showgirl continues its unstoppable run.
