Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, unveiled a proposed ceasefire plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
Calling it a “great day,” Trump said the peace deal is “very close” and thanked Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for their “100% support” of the initiative.
Key points of Trump’s plan include:
-
Hamas must release all hostages within 72 hours.
-
Arab and Muslim nations will help disarm Gaza and dismantle militant infrastructure.
-
Israeli forces will withdraw in phases, replaced by a locally trained police force.
-
An international oversight body, the “Board of Peace,” will be established, with figures like former UK PM Tony Blair expected to join.
-
Reconstruction and transition programs will be funded by regional and global partners.
Trump stressed that if Hamas rejects the deal, the U.S. will back Israel fully. He said, “Our goal is not just Gaza, but lasting peace across the Middle East.”
