US President Donald Trump used part of his closing remarks at the memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk to take aim at late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel.
Speaking at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Trump paid tribute to Kirk, describing him as someone who “did not hate his opponents” and “always wanted the best for them.”
However, the president also pivoted to ridicule Kimmel, mocking the comedian in front of the thousands gathered to honour Kirk.
The event, attended by supporters and conservative figures, was held to commemorate Kirk, a prominent right-wing commentator and activist. Trump’s speech blended praise for the late commentator with his trademark criticism of media and entertainment personalities.
