UK Pledges Over $5 Million in Aid to Gaza, Slams Israel’s Actions

The UK government has pledged £4 million (approximately $5.37 million) in humanitarian aid to Gaza amidst the worsening conditions in the besieged enclave. This announcement follows one of the UK’s strongest criticisms of Israeli actions during the ongoing conflict.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy described Israel’s recent military operations in Gaza as “diabolical” and “murderous” – marking a significant shift in tone from previous British administrations.

Meanwhile, UK’s Development Minister Jenny Chapman is currently visiting Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories to assess the situation firsthand and emphasize the urgent need for humanitarian access.

The UK also announced a suspension of its free trade negotiations with Israel, citing continued blockade and obstruction of aid deliveries to Gaza.

Adding to international pressure, former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a rare rebuke, warning Israel to halt the Gaza offensive or risk losing American support. This marks a stark departure from Trump’s historically unwavering backing of Israeli policies.

These developments signal growing global frustration with Israel’s handling of the conflict, especially as civilian casualties mount and humanitarian concerns intensify.
