Lucknow, Following several noise complaints, Uttar Pradesh Police have launched a fresh drive to remove loudspeakers from religious places across the city.
Officials said the move is part of an ongoing campaign to enforce Supreme Court guidelines that restrict the use of loudspeakers to specific decibel levels. “Complaints were coming in about high-volume loudspeakers at some religious sites,” said DCP (West) Vishwajeet Srivastava. “Teams are visiting different areas, removing those violating norms, and spreading awareness. In many cases, people are taking them down voluntarily.”
The drive aims to curb noise pollution while ensuring that religious practices remain within lawful sound limits.
