Environmental experts have criticized the use of anti-smog guns in Lahore, calling it an ineffective and wasteful measure. According to reports, each truck consumes around 300,000 liters of water daily in an attempt to combat smog. However, these trucks run on diesel engines, which ironically contribute to air pollution instead of reducing it.
Critics argue that such measures may look appealing in the media but lack scientific backing and sustainable impact. They emphasize that Punjab’s efforts to tackle air pollution should be guided by evidence-based environmental policies rather than symbolic gestures.
Despite these criticisms, the provincial government maintains that these initiatives reflect its determination to address the worsening air quality crisis.
