The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has taken major action over the alleged video recording incident at Lady Willingdon Hospital, initiating proceedings against several doctors and senior administrative officials.
According to the Health Department, show cause notices have been issued to responsible senior officials, while a formal letter has also been sent to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for disciplinary action against five postgraduate doctors.
Officials stated that action has been directed against Dr Tayyaba, Dr Maham, Dr Zainab, Dr Ayesha, and Dr Isa for recording a video of a female patient during surgery.
Furthermore, the Specialized Healthcare Department has also initiated action under the PEDA Act against former MS Dr Farah, Head of Department Dr Uzma, Senior Consultant Anesthesia Dr Munir, Senior Registrar Dr Rutaba, Senior Registrar Dr Munza, and Senior Woman Medical Officer Dr Durre Iram.
The Health Department has held the concerned officials responsible for negligence in duties, administrative weaknesses, incompetence, and failure of control.
Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood has sought written explanations from all concerned individuals within seven days, while Asif Bilal Lodhi has been appointed as the hearing officer on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Additionally, Secretary Local Government Mian Shakeel Ahmed has also been appointed as a hearing officer.
According to officials, the doctors and senior officers involved in the case have been directed to appear in person or submit written replies within seven days.
Moreover, show cause notices have also been issued to MS and HOD, along with former WMO Dr Iqra Hafeez, Charge Nurse Dr Iqra Zahid, Charge Nurse Fauzia Rashid, and staff member Haseeb Rauf.
