Which People Are More Likely to Be Affected by Deadly Diarrheal Disease?

According to recent medical research, white individuals are at a higher risk of contracting a particular deadly diarrheal disease known as Clostridioides difficile infection compared to others.

‎Reports indicate that this study was conducted by American experts, and the findings were published in the Journal of Infection and Public Health and other scientific journals.

‎This infection is caused by a dangerous bacterium that affects the intestines. It often occurs after excessive use of antibiotics, as these medications destroy beneficial bacteria in the gut, allowing this particular bacterium to grow rapidly.

‎The infection can cause severe diarrhea, abdominal swelling and pain, fever, and in some cases, intestinal perforation or life threatening complications.

‎One possible reason for this is the difference in gut bacterial composition. Moreover, white individuals tend to have a higher rate of prolonged antibiotic use, which increases the risk of this disease.

‎White patients especially those hospitalized  were found to be the most affected.

‎Preventive Measures:

‎1. Avoid unnecessary use of antibiotics.

‎2. Maintain proper hand hygiene and ensure disinfection in hospital environments.

‎3. If someone has prolonged diarrhea and is using antibiotics, they should consult a doctor immediately.

‎4. Probiotic foods (such as yogurt) can help restore healthy gut bacteria.
