The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) has successfully completed 1,000 liver transplant surgeries, for which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude.

‎Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while expressing appreciation for PKLI’s remarkable milestone, said that by the grace of Allah, the sapling planted in 2017 has now grown into a strong tree. He noted that so far, 4 million patients have benefited from the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute.

‎He said that in the past, malicious conspiracies were made to destroy PKLI, and its Board of Governors was removed, rendering the institution inactive.

‎Shehbaz Sharif stated that when he resumed his responsibilities as “Khadim-e-Pakistan” in 2022, the process of reviving PKLI began. He added that the Chief Minister of Punjab worked tirelessly to restore the institute to its full capacity.

‎The Prime Minister praised Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for her dedicated efforts in reviving the institution, noting that the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute provides free treatment to 80 percent of its patients.

‎He further said that poor citizens are benefiting from world class medical facilities at PKLI, and the team that established the institute and restarted its operations deserves great appreciation.

‎The Prime Minister added that PKLI has played a vital role in serving humanity and saving lives, and that Dr. Saeed Akhtar and his entire team deserve commendation for their outstanding performance.
