Sialkot: A 13-year-old girl kidnapped from Sialkot has reportedly been taken to Afghanistan, where the abductors are demanding a ransom of Rs 5 million for her release.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s father, the case took a new turn as 22 days have passed since the abduction, yet the girl, Samina, has not been recovered.
Police sources said the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded Rs 5 million in exchange for the girl’s safe return.
Abdul Haq, the father of the abducted child, registered the case 22 days ago. He claims the recovery of his daughter has become a major challenge for Kotwali Police. The father appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, alleging that Sialkot Police were not cooperating with him. He further stated that the nominated suspects were arrested but later released.
Kotwali SHO Altaf Ghumman said that yellow warrants are being issued for the girl’s recovery and that Interpol Afghanistan will be approached.
A spokesperson for Sialkot Police said efforts are underway to trace the girl, and officers are hopeful she will be recovered soon and the abductors arrested. The DPO, Faisal Shehzad, has also sought a detailed report on the incident.
