Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced major examination reforms aimed at boosting transparency and curbing malpractice in the province.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that after successfully controlling cheating in first-year exams, the government will now replace all practical exams with multiple-choice questions (MCQs) starting this year.

He added that the government plans to seek a constitutional amendment to allow rechecking of exam papers, with a higher recheck fee due to the large number of candidates.

Rana Sikandar also revealed that the exam pattern will shift to concept-based learning, and that trained invigilators will receive an increased daily allowance of Rs. 5,000. Only those who complete the required training will be allowed to invigilate.

To implement these reforms effectively, university teaching assistants will be engaged, and support from both government and private sectors will be sought.
