RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully eliminated at least 20 terrorists belonging to the banned outfit Fitna al Khawarij during a series of intelligence based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Monday.

According to the ISPR, the operations were carried out between November 8 and 9 as part of the ongoing national counterterrorism campaign Operation Azm-e-Istehkam. The campaign aims to eradicate terrorism and its foreign-backed networks across Pakistan.

In the first operation conducted in the Shawal area of North Waziristan, troops engaged the militants after receiving credible intelligence about their presence. The encounter resulted in the killing of eight terrorists reportedly linked to Indian proxies.

In a separate operation in the Dara Adam Khel district, security forces launched another targeted strike, neutralizing 12 more militants after an intense exchange of fire.

The ISPR further stated that sanitization efforts are underway to clear the surrounding areas of any remaining terrorist elements. The military reiterated its resolve to continue its operations with full force under Azm-e-Istehkam, a strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP).

Pakistan’s security forces reaffirmed their determination to root out all forms of foreign sponsored terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability in the country.
