RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Tajikistan have reaffirmed their resolve to deepen defence and security cooperation, aiming to strengthen military partnership and enhance regional stability, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

During a meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Tajik Defence Minister Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim called on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Both sides discussed mutual interests, regional security challenges, and the future of bilateral defence collaboration.

ISPR reported that the two leaderships agreed to expand military-to-military engagement, with a particular focus on training, counter terrorism operations, and regional peace initiatives. The Tajik minister praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and acknowledged its role in promoting stability across the region.

COAS Asim Munir highlighted the importance of collective efforts to ensure peace, security, and prosperity in the region, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Tajikistan.

The reaffirmation comes shortly after the successful completion of the Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise “Dosti-II,” held from 4–9 August 2025 at the Fakhrobod Base in Tajikistan. The exercise featured two combat teams from the Pakistan Army’s Light Commando Battalion and four teams from Tajikistan’s Special Forces.

According to ISPR, troops from both countries displayed exceptional professionalism, achieving all training and military diplomacy objectives. The joint exercise aimed to sharpen counter-terrorism techniques, improve operational readiness, and strengthen longstanding military ties between the two friendly nations.
