A recent government survey has revealed that 80% of cancer patients in Pakistan are treated at the cancer hospitals run by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).

According to the Economic Survey report, treatment at PAEC cancer hospitals is provided without any discrimination, regardless of the patient’s disease stage or financial status.

Each year, around 1 million procedures are carried out at these hospitals, and 40,000 new cancer patients receive treatment.

Currently, these hospitals employ around 2,600 staff members, including approximately 250 doctors, 76 medical physicists, 47 biomedical engineers, and 43 radio-pharmacists and scientists.

The hospitals are equipped with modern pathology, hematology, and biochemistry labs.

In addition, they have radioimmunoassay labs, hepatitis B and C screening, dengue screening, molecular diagnostic and research laboratories, as well as blood collection centers and newborn screening centers.
