The illegal kidney transplant racket in Punjab shows no signs of stopping, as police rescued a man tied to a stretcher from a private housing society in Rawalpindi. Six suspects, including the surgeon, managed to flee the scene.

‎According to police, during the raid on the property, a man bound to a stretcher was found on the roof. One suspect was arrested on the spot, but the surgeon and five others escaped.

‎Reports reveal that this year alone, three major gangs involved in the illicit trade have been busted. Such groups remain active in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Kasur.

‎So far this year, 23 people linked to the illegal business have been arrested in Punjab, including 12 in Lahore among them a gang agent, nine in Sheikhupura, and two most-wanted suspects from Kot Radha Kishan.

‎According to Adnan Bhatti, Head of Vigilance at the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority, donors are lured from Sargodha, Sahiwal, Kot Momin, and various districts of South Punjab.
