(Islamabad)The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved bail for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in eight separate cases linked to the events of May 9. The cases, registered in the aftermath of nationwide protests and riots, were earlier contested in the Lahore High Court (LHC), which had rejected the bail pleas.

A bench led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi heard Khan’s appeals and ruled in his favor, granting him protective bail in the matters. Legal experts noted that the decision provides temporary relief to the former prime minister, though proceedings in related cases are still ongoing at different judicial forums.

During the hearing, the court emphasized the importance of ensuring due process and protecting fundamental rights, while also reiterating that accountability for unlawful actions must be carried out in accordance with the Constitution and established legal principles. The verdict is expected to have significant political and legal implications, given Khan’s central role in Pakistan’s current political landscape.
