The opening of the first-ever Augmented and Virtual Reality (A&VR) Laboratory at the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), the Gulberg Town, Karachi, was inaugurated by the Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

A state of the art, it will be located in the Faculty of Information & Computing Sciences (FoI&CS) and will be the first of its kind in the Pakistani academic institutions (public or private). The lab combines Artificial Intelligence with AR and VR applications, creating new research, innovational and skill building opportunities.

As a part of his visit, Dr. Siddiqui was able to test the modern features of the lab and express his appreciation on the willingness of DUET of providing students with the latest technologies. DUET vice chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I) updated him about the current projects and the vision of the university in the sphere of increasing digital innovations.

Distinguished guests such as Sindh MPA Engr. Adil Askari and Muhammad Ali Jinnah University President Dr. Zubair Ahmed Shaikh also spoke in the ceremony and applauded DUETs top management on their introduction of high-tech resources.

All dignitaries termed the A&VR Lab as a goldmine to DUET students, and predicted its contribution towards the enhancement of Pakistani research and technological horizon.
