RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has termed the party’s decision to resign from National Assembly standing committees as “final and irreversible.”

Speaking to reporters after meeting the incarcerated former premier at Adiala Jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Khan fully endorsed the boycott of by-elections and parliamentary committees. He also instructed that members who resigned should return official vehicles and drivers.

The move follows recent disqualifications of senior PTI lawmakers, including Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, in cases related to the May 9 riots.

Gohar added that Khan directed the party to support flood victims and urged the federal government to devise a National Action Plan for flood response on the model of the counterterrorism strategy. He stressed consensus on dams and canals, calling for flood relief to be kept above politics.

On political dialogue, Gohar said Khan considered talks necessary for resolving issues but confirmed that no negotiations were currently underway with the government. He reiterated that Sher Afzal Marwat was not part of PTI.

The PTI leader also criticised the government for disqualifying senior figures, isolating Khan’s family, and attempting to silence the party’s voice in parliament.
