QUETTA: At least 13 people were killed and dozens injured in a suspected suicide blast on Sariab Road, Quetta, on Tuesday evening. Officials fear the death toll could rise as several victims remain in critical condition.

The Counter-Terrorism Department said the explosion near Shahwani Stadium was “apparently a suicide attack” and evidence collection is underway.

Civil Hospital’s MS Dr Hadi Kakar confirmed the casualties, adding that five injured were in serious condition.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack as a cowardly act targeting innocent people. He vowed to “crush the terrorists’ nefarious designs” and ordered a high-level inquiry.

Security in the city has been tightened as investigations continue.
