Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the worsening flood situation in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, directing authorities to carry out relief and rehabilitation work on an urgent basis.

Chairing a high-level meeting, the Prime Minister instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to work in close coordination with the Sindh government and the Sindh Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) to ensure swift rescue and relief operations.

He commended Rescue 1122, Pakistan Army, and Rangers for their active role in ongoing operations across Karachi. Expressing grief over the drowning incident in Gadap stream, he directed all relevant institutions to expedite efforts to locate missing persons at the earliest.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to intensify public awareness campaigns to keep citizens informed about flood risks and safety measures. He further directed immediate restoration of damaged communication systems in affected areas.

Shehbaz Sharif assured that both the federal and provincial governments are fully mobilized to deal with the emergency and to provide maximum support to the flood-hit communities.
