Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Doha on a one-day visit to express solidarity with Qatar following an Is-r@eli airstrike on the Qatari capital earlier this week.

According to international media reports, the Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

During his visit, PM Sharif is expected to meet Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and members of the royal family to discuss regional developments and reaffirm Pakistan’s support for Qatar.

On Tuesday, Israel carried out an airstrike on a building in Doha, allegedly targeting H@mas leaders. While H@mas has not confirmed the killing of any of its officials, both Qatari authorities and H@mas stated that six people lost their lives in the attack.

Pakistan, along with several other countries, strongly condemned the airstrike, calling it a violation of international law. In his statement, PM Sharif stressed that the people and government of Pakistan “stand firmly with the Qatari leadership and its people in this difficult time.”
