Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Qatar, condemning Israel’s airstrikes on Doha as an “unjust and heinous” assault on the Gulf state’s sovereignty.

Shehbaz Sharif, who reached Doha with a high-level delegation, said his visit was a clear message that Pakistan stands firmly with Qatar against Israeli aggression. After a brief visit, the PM and his delegation returned home later in the day.

“Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with His Highness the Amir, the Royal Family, and the brotherly people of Qatar in this challenging time,” he declared after meeting Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The premier assured Qatar’s leadership of Pakistan’s full support in the face of what he described as an “unjustified provocation.” He also conveyed deep sympathies over the loss of lives and prayed for the recovery of the injured.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that Pakistan and Qatar had always stood by each other through “thick and thin,” adding that this spirit of brotherhood remained central to their relationship.

During his stay, the prime minister continued engagements with Qatari leadership to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to Qatar’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

The Israeli strike on Doha, which targeted Hamas officials, killed at least seven people and drew sharp criticism across the Arab world.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani called the attack reckless and warned it threatened the security of the entire Gulf.

“There is a response that will happen from the region. This response is currently under consultation and discussion with other partners,” he said, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of dragging the region into “chaos.”
