PDMA Punjab Deploys Digital Tools for Flood Damage Survey

Lahore, 2025 – The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has rolled out digital tools to assess flood damage across the province, aiming to speed up relief efforts and ensure transparency in compensation distribution.

According to officials, the new system will record detailed data on houses, land, and infrastructure losses through Android-based mobile applications. Once compiled, the information will be sent to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) for verification, after which compensation will be disbursed through the Bank of Punjab.

The digital survey covers 27 affected districts and 3,775 villages, with 2,213 teams assigned to the task. Each team is equipped with smartphones and survey apps to capture GPS data, photos, and structural assessments.

PDMA has announced a structured compensation plan:

Fully damaged brick houses → Rs. 1,000,000

Fully damaged mud houses → Rs. 500,000

Partially damaged brick houses → Rs. 300,000

Partially damaged mud houses → Rs. 150,000

If a household’s claim is rejected during verification, residents will have the right to appeal at the DC or AC level. Authorities believe this mechanism will build trust and minimize disputes

Frequent monsoon floods have caused massive destruction in Punjab, and past manual survey methods often delayed relief and created errors. By shifting to digital tools, PDMA aims to make disaster response faster, more accountable, and resistant to fraudulent claims.

Training survey teams for accurate data entry

Connectivity issues in remote areas

Ensuring impartial verification

Efficient handling of appeals to avoid delays
