Residents across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware should brace for a volatile stretch of weather Thursday as forecasters warn of strong storms capable of producing heavy downpours, damaging wind gusts, and even a brief tornado. The greatest risk is expected during the late afternoon and evening hours, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., though conditions could shift as the system develops.

The day will start off relatively unsettled, with showers moving in overnight and continuing through the morning into early afternoon. While the early rounds of rain may not pack much punch, forecasters caution that the atmosphere will grow increasingly unstable by evening, setting the stage for stronger, more scattered storms to fire up across the region.

Meteorologists emphasize that while the overall severe threat is considered marginal, it only takes one quick-hitting storm to cause serious issues. Flash flooding from torrential downpours and pockets of damaging winds remain the main concerns, but residents are urged to stay alert as the potential for an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
