Thunderstorms Forecast for Northern Pakistan as Hot, Dry Conditions Persist Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted thunderstorms in several northern regions of the country, while most parts of Pakistan are expected to continue experiencing hot and dry weather this week.

According to the forecast, thunderstorms and rain are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with isolated showers also possible in surrounding northern areas. However, Azad Kashmir is expected to remain largely dry despite the unstable weather nearby.

Elsewhere, the weather pattern will stay dominated by heat and dryness. Flood-hit districts of Sindh and Punjab are forecast to remain hot, potentially worsening conditions for affected communities. Islamabad will also see hot and dry weather, while coastal Sindh and parts of Balochistan may experience partly cloudy skies.

In the past 24 hours, most of the country witnessed hot and dry conditions. Rainfall was reported only in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Murree, where showers brought some relief from the heat.

The Met Department has advised residents in northern regions to remain cautious of potential thunderstorms, while urging citizens in southern and central Pakistan to prepare for continued heat.
