The country’s first national anti-cervical cancer vaccination campaign failed to achieve its set target.

‎According to sources, the anti-HPV vaccination campaign continued from September 15 to 27, during which 5.2 million girls were vaccinated in Punjab, achieving 68 percent of the target.

‎Similarly, in Sindh, 2.4 million girls received the HPV vaccine, completing 65 percent of the target, while in Azad Kashmir, 97,117 girls and in Islamabad, 46,949 girls were vaccinated.

‎Sources revealed that in Azad Kashmir, the HPV campaign achieved 39 percent of the target, whereas in Islamabad, only 35 percent of the goal was met.

‎The campaign was not conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan. In Balochistan, the campaign will be held in 2027, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, it will be launched in 2026.

‎According to sources, the target of the HPV vaccination campaign was 11.7 million girls, while the national coverage rate stood at 66.32 percent. This means that 7.7 million girls were vaccinated during the campaign.
