How Helpful Are AI Chatbots in Diagnosing Diseases? Experts Explain

A recent study has revealed that modern AI chatbots are proving to be more accurate than human doctors in diagnosing common symptoms.

‎According to research published on a medical website, advanced AI chatbots such as Ernie Bot, ChatGPT, and DeepSeek performed better than human doctors in diagnosing common symptoms.

‎During the study, researchers compared the performance of AI chatbots and doctors in cases involving symptoms like chest pain or breathing difficulties. The results showed that AI chatbots made more accurate diagnoses than doctors.

‎However, the study also found that AI chatbots sometimes suggested unnecessary tests and medications that were not in line with medical guidelines.

‎For example, an asthma patient was advised to take antibiotics or undergo an expensive CT scan, which was unnecessary. Additionally, AI chatbots tended to recommend extra tests and medications for wealthy and elderly patients, potentially increasing economic inequality.

‎Experts stated that AI chatbots can play a supportive role in healthcare, especially in areas facing a shortage of doctors. However, proper monitoring and precautions are essential before their use to protect patients from unnecessary treatments and expenses.

‎They further emphasized that AI chatbot recommendations should always be reviewed under the supervision of human doctors to ensure improved healthcare outcomes.

‎Overall, AI chatbots can play a significant role in the health sector, but their use requires caution to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
