Ramadan 2026 is expected to start on Thursday, February 19, according to preliminary astronomical predictions released by the Emirates Astronomy Society.

The society revealed that the crescent moon will be born on Tuesday, February 17, at 4:01 PM (UAE time). However, since the moon will set only one minute after sunset, it’s unlikely to be visible that evening, meaning the holy month is expected to begin two days later.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, explained that fasting hours in Abu Dhabi will initially last about 12 hours and 46 minutes, gradually extending to 13 hours and 25 minutes by the end of Ramadan.
