University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Waseem Qazi has stressed the need to preserve historical facts and promote critical thinking amid the growing influence of artificial intelligence, fake news, and social media algorithms. Addressing a special lecture titled “Quaid-e-Azam’s Vision of Pakistan: National Unity, Democratic Values, and State Stability” at the University of Karachi, he said universities must promote research, creativity, and critical thinking among students. Senior journalist Mazhar Abbas said that research was declining in Pakistan and critical thinking had almost disappeared from universities. He added that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision of Pakistan remained a subject of debate. Abbas emphasized that Jinnah envisioned a democratic state based on constitutional supremacy, justice, and equal rights for minorities. He also criticized the lack of accountability and the failure to ensure the rule of law, saying that the absence of justice was a major cause of instability in the country.
