The nationwide anti polio campaign is set to begin on October 13.
According to details, the announcement was made by Ayesha Raza Farooq, the focal person for the Anti-Polio Program, during a press conference.
She stated that more than 400,000 polio workers will participate in the campaign, and over 45 million children will be administered polio drops.
Since September 2004, six nationwide campaigns have been conducted, while the number of polio vaccine refusal cases has decreased from 1.1 million to 830,000.
She further shared that so far, 29 cases have been reported in the country, with the majority emerging from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Every year, around 7 million children are born, which also changes the campaign’s target.
Ayesha Raza emphasized that the polio vaccine is completely safe. She added that inappropriate behavior toward frontline workers is unacceptable, and frequent population movement also affects the campaign’s targets.
