The Sindh Universities and Boards Department has approved a new grading policy for students in classes 9 to 12, to be implemented from the upcoming academic session. Under the revised system, the passing marks have been raised from 33% to 40%, and student results will now be expressed in grades instead of total marks or percentages.

According to the new grading scale, students scoring between 50% and 59% will receive a D grade, 60% to 69% a C grade, and 70% to 74% a B grade. Scores between 75% and 79% will earn a B+, while 80% to 84% will be categorized as B++. Students achieving 85% to 89% will be awarded an A, and those securing between 90% and 100% will fall under the A+ category.

Officials stated that the change aims to promote fairness, reduce academic pressure, and align Sindh’s education standards with international grading frameworks. This adjustment is expected to make it easier for students to apply to foreign universities.

All education boards across Sindh will implement the new grading system simultaneously. The department also plans to launch awareness campaigns to inform schools, teachers, and parents about the transition before the policy officially takes effect next year.
