The Sindh government has launched a digital Student Attendance Monitoring System (SAMRS) to track attendance and enhance accountability in public schools across the province.

Chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the initiative aims to identify causes of absenteeism and improve overall educational performance. Developed under the Sindh Early Learning Enhancement Through Classroom Transformation Project, the system will first be introduced in 600 schools across 12 districts before expanding provincewide.

Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said SAMRS is a technology-driven solution using an offline mobile app to record daily attendance and collect real-time data from schools. The system is expected to help reduce dropout rates and monitor both teacher and student performance.

Supported by the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education, the project represents a major step toward integrating technology in Sindh’s education system. A formal launch ceremony involving international partners and education stakeholders will be held soon.
