Karachi — A series of tragic incidents unfolded across Karachi on Sunday, as two people, including a nine-year-old boy, lost their lives in separate traffic accidents, while three bodies were recovered from different parts of the city.

According to police reports, a speeding car struck and killed 65-year-old pedestrian Ghulam Akbar, son of Wahid Bakhsh, near Shetan Chowk in Korangi’s Mehran Town. The body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital, while the driver fled the scene with the vehicle.

In another accident, nine-year-old Majid Ali was fatally hit by a fast-moving car near Inara Garden on the Super Highway. Police arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle. The child’s body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, in separate incidents, three bodies were found across the city. In Lines Area, a 72-year-old man, Abdul Qayyum, was discovered dead in his home. Police said he lived alone and likely died after falling from the stairs due to a heart condition.

In Shah Rasool Colony, Clifton, the two-day-old body of 68-year-old Arshad Mahmood, a retired Navy sailor, was found inside his residence. He reportedly died from a gunshot wound. Neighbors informed police after noticing he hadn’t been seen for two days. His family told police that he had been suffering from severe mental stress.

In another case, the body of 18-year-old laborer Ali Raza was found near Manzil Pump Bus Stop in Shah Latif Town. Police said the deceased, originally from Punjab, had been suffering from dengue, which had critically reduced his white blood cell count.

Authorities have launched investigations into all the incidents.
