Survey Completed on Medicine Price Changes from February 2024 to August 2025

After the removal of government control, prices of 60 percent of medicines have increased by more than 30 percent over the past one and a half years, while the survey also indicated a decrease in the prices of 30 percent of medicines.

‎According to sources, prices of 60 percent of commonly used medicines recorded an increase of more than 30 percent. The survey also mentioned that after deregulation, prices of 30 percent of medicines decreased. The survey was conducted in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, and Islamabad.

‎In the survey, prices of nearly 200 medicines from 100 pharmaceutical companies were reviewed. Opinions from the World Health Organization (WHO) were also sought. According to sources, the Ministry of Health will send the survey report on medicine prices to the Prime Minister. The survey company was assigned the task of reviewing prices on August 10 of this year.

‎During the caretaker government, price control on nearly half of the medicines in the country was lifted.
