Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics using drones during major operations conducted in Rawalpindi and Lahore. According to ANF officials, two suspects were arrested near Bhidian Kalan Road, Kasur, while attempting to transport drugs using a vehicle.
During the search, officials recovered 9 kilograms of heroin, a quadcopter drone, and other related equipment. The drugs were concealed in hidden compartments of the vehicle and among the suspects’ personal belongings.
Initial investigations led to the discovery of an illegal drone assembly unit in Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Town. The ANF raided the location and seized several advanced drones, including hexacopters, quadcopters, fixed-wing hybrid VTOLs, and drone remotes.
Authorities confirmed that the head of finance of the drone company was arrested on-site for his involvement in assembling and repairing drones without legal authorization. These drones were allegedly being prepared for cross-border narcotics smuggling.
An ANF spokesperson stated that the use of advanced technology in drug trafficking is a concerning trend, but the force remains committed to dismantling such networks through innovative countermeasures and intelligence-based operations.
