Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer has officially confirmed that the league will expand to eight teams from the next edition, marking the biggest growth phase in the tournament’s history.

Speaking to the media, Naseer revealed that the franchise auction process for the two new teams will begin in November, where interested parties will bid for ownership through an open and transparent system. The winning bidders will have the option to select their preferred city franchise from a designated pool of locations, potentially adding fresh regional representation to Pakistan’s most popular cricket league.

The PSL’s expansion, last seen when Multan Sultans joined in 2018, aims to increase competition and commercial appeal while spreading matches to new venues across the country. Naseer confirmed that matches for the next season could be staged at six major venues, including the long-awaited Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar and Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

“This expansion is part of our long-term vision to take PSL to every corner of Pakistan and provide more opportunities for emerging talent,” said Salman Naseer, highlighting the PCB’s goal of enhancing both fan engagement and the league’s financial model.

The addition of two new franchises is expected to attract strong corporate interest, with reports suggesting several major investors are already preparing to submit bids.

As preparations move forward, the Pakistan Cricket Board is finalizing new franchise agreements to ensure fair revenue sharing and sustainability for both existing and incoming teams.

With this landmark decision, PSL’s next season is shaping up to be the biggest and most competitive edition yet — one that could redefine the future of franchise cricket in Pakistan.
