PMDC Reverts MBBS/BDS Passing Marks to 50% and Attendance to 75% for Current Session

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has reversed its decision to raise passing marks for MBBS and BDS programs, restoring the previous 50 percent requirement for the 2024–25 academic session. The council also reinstated the 75 percent attendance rule, replacing the recently approved 85 percent threshold.

In a fresh notification, PMDC confirmed that the earlier plan to increase passing marks to 65 percent has been withdrawn. All medical and dental institutions across Pakistan have been directed to immediately comply with the updated policy.

The rollback follows concerns from students and academic circles regarding the sudden change in examination and attendance criteria within the same session. PMDC stated that the move aims to maintain academic continuity and provide relief to students currently enrolled.

Medical universities and colleges have been instructed to ensure full implementation of the revised standards without delay.
