East Tennessee is in for another beautiful day Thursday, with plenty of sunshine and afternoon highs around the mid-60s perfect weather for any outdoor plans.
Clouds and winds will pick up Friday as a cold front moves through the region. Daytime temperatures will climb close to 70°, but rain chances rise sharply by evening, bringing scattered showers and a few gusty storms overnight. Some areas could see isolated strong wind gusts, especially as the front pushes through after sunset.
Saturday begins cloudy but should see some afternoon breaks with highs in the upper 60s. Another weak front follows Saturday night, bringing light rain or sprinkles early Sunday before drier but colder air arrives.
By Sunday night into Monday, a blast of cold air will drop temperatures sharply daytime highs will struggle to reach the 40s, and a hard freeze is expected Monday morning. Even a few light snowflakes could appear over the Smokies, marking the season’s first hint of winter.
