Govt to Launch AI App to Stop Illegal Immigration

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced plans to introduce an AI based application in Islamabad starting January to curb illegal immigration and prevent the use of fake travel documents.

The decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, attended by senior officials from the Interior Ministry, FIA, NADRA, and the Passport and Immigration Department.

The AI system will help authorities identify eligible passengers in advance and block travel attempts by those using fake or cancelled passports. Once deported individuals’ passports are cancelled, the system will prevent new visas from being issued to them, stopping repeated attempts abroad.

Ministers also announced major reforms in the immigration system to streamline travel for genuine passengers while strengthening monitoring at airports. Officials have been asked to submit detailed recommendations within seven days.

The meeting approved a strict crackdown on travel agents issuing fake visas. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized a zero tolerance policy and warned that those involved will face legal action. He also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts with eight countries to improve the ranking of its green passport, warning that illegal travelers harm the nation’s reputation.

Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain said all labor visas will now require complete documentation, and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis will facilitate a smoother immigration process. Action is also being considered against individuals residing abroad using fake documents.

Additionally, the National Police Bureau will issue international driving licenses, with enforcement agencies ensuring compliance across departments.
