The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has launched Pakistan’s first web series based on robotic surgery.

‎According to details, the web series highlights the need for modern surgical techniques, the challenges faced, and the future of this technology. The special feature of the series is that real events involving actual patients, doctors, and medical staff of the hospital have been filmed, allowing viewers to understand the background and process of robotic surgery in a realistic manner.

‎During the premiere ceremony held at Nueplex Cinema, SIUT’s robotic surgeon and trustee Dr Irfan Rizvi said that the negative perception about Pakistan, that no progress, modern treatment, or world class work happens here, is entirely incorrect. The reality is the opposite.

‎He said that Pakistan’s healthcare system has qualities that are found in very few countries in the world. Here, modern surgical techniques are accessible to common and low income patients, where providing free treatment while preserving the dignity of patients is the top priority. He said that the beginning of robotic surgery in Pakistan is a positive development, enabling local surgeons to compete internationally and allowing patients to fully benefit from this advanced technique.

‎Head of the Department of Robotic Surgery at SIUT, Dr Rehan Mohsin, said that he greatly appreciates his team, as this is a unique type of web series.

‎He said that robotic surgery is a relatively new concept for Pakistan, and he is proud that SIUT was the first to introduce this surgical technique in the country. More than four thousand robotic surgeries have been performed here so far, where completely free treatment is provided while maintaining the dignity of patients.

‎Abrar, a patient who underwent kidney surgery through robotic surgery at SIUT a year ago, said that he received robotic surgery and recovered quickly. He said his experience was very good.
