Lahore: Police have resolved the case involving the theft of gold worth Rs1.7 million from a residence, revealing that the crime was orchestrated by a close family member.

According to a police spokesperson, the Women Police Station Race Course arrested the suspect using modern investigative techniques. Officials stated that the accused, identified as the elder sister-in-law of the complainant, stole the gold from the house during the absence of other family members.

Police said the suspect later sold the stolen gold and deposited the proceeds at a friend’s house for safekeeping. During interrogation, the woman confessed to staging a false theft incident motivated by financial gain.

Station House Officer Women, Amina Jameel, said that Rs700,000 in cash and a gold ring were recovered from the possession of the accused. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

SP Civil Lines Chaudhry Athar Ali stated that ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property remains the police’s top priority.
