In Muzaffargarh, nine young children from the same locality have died due to illness within the span of one month. The children reportedly fell ill with high fever followed by swelling on the face.

‎According to local residents, the children first developed high fever, after which swelling appeared on their faces, and within two to three days the children passed away. The ages of the deceased children ranged from one and a half years to six years.

‎Following reports of the incident, doctors and health department teams reached the affected area. Eleven more sick young children were shifted to the DHQ Hospital, while 37 other young children were vaccinated.

‎The health department stated that viral pneumonia was diagnosed in the deceased and affected children. Officials said the number of deaths increased because the parents of the deceased children did not take them to hospitals when they fell ill.

‎The health department further said that screening of more children in the area is ongoing and the hospitalized children are being provided with the best possible medical facilities.
