Islamabad: Law enforcement authorities have uncovered a major network involved in the exploitation of minor children in Islamabad, arresting a key suspect and recovering more than 600 obscene videos.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Taimoor Mehmood and a resident of Murree, was arrested from Rawalpindi. Investigators revealed that the suspect used social media platforms while posing as a young girl to lure minor children. He would then coerce them into sharing explicit videos, which were later used for blackmail.
Initial forensic analysis of the suspect’s mobile phone revealed the presence of multiple WhatsApp groups through which obscene videos and images of local and foreign children were shared. Authorities believe the material was circulated for illegal purposes, including extortion and financial gain.
A case has been registered against the accused and administrators of the involved WhatsApp groups under relevant sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). Officials confirmed that the scope of the investigation has been expanded, with potential links to the dark web currently under scrutiny.
NCCIA officials stated that large-scale investigations are underway to identify facilitators and other individuals involved in the network. Further arrests are expected as the probe progresses.
