The presence of the polio virus has been confirmed in the city’s sewage. According to sources, the virus was detected in a sewage sample taken from the outfall disposal station.

‎The sewage samples were sent to the National Institute of Health for analysis, where the presence of the virus was confirmed.

‎Reports state that despite repeated anti polio campaigns, the polio virus has remained present in the environment for the past two years, raising concerns for children’s health.

‎Health experts say parents must ensure their children receive polio drops to help prevent the spread of the virus. The health department has indicated that further surveillance and vaccination campaigns will be intensified in the affected areas.

‎It is worth noting that polio is a life threatening disease and poses a real danger to humanity. In addition, it is highly contagious. Children under the age of five are at the highest risk of contracting the disease.

‎The polio virus has the ability to spread from one person to another, making the disease contagious. Polio affects the nervous system.

‎The polio virus attacks the spinal cord and brain of the infected person. As a result, it can cause paralysis because the individual becomes unable to move certain parts of the body.
