Anxiety is a disorder that is becoming increasingly common in the modern era and is usually treated through psychotherapy or medication.

‎People suffering from anxiety experience both mental and physical problems. However, the good news is that preventing it can be quite simple, just improve your sleep. This was revealed in a medical study conducted in the United States.

‎A study by the University of California found that with increasing age, significant changes occur in emotional stability and sleep patterns.

‎The research examined the relationship between sleep, the reduction in brain volume that occurs with aging, and anxiety. The study included 61 healthy individuals aged over 65. All of these individuals experienced some level of anxiety in their daily lives.

‎Researchers collected data on brain activity during sleep through scans. After analyzing this data, they examined how the quality of sleep affects anxiety levels.

‎The results showed that good and high quality sleep helps protect against anxiety. In fact, good sleep at any age makes it easier to avoid anxiety.

‎According to the researchers, the findings indicate that good sleep is essential for brain health at every age. The results of this study were published in the journal Communications Psychology.

‎What is anxiety?

‎Anxiety is the body’s natural response to stress. It is a state of fear or worry that consists of various factors.

‎An increased heart rate, shortness of breath, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating are some of its common symptoms.

‎However, its expression or symptoms may vary from person to person. For example, one individual may experience intense nervousness, while another may have distressing thoughts or panic attacks.
