Health experts have declared smoking a major threat to health.

‎According to health experts, smoking invites cancer, heart diseases and other illnesses, and now another major harm of this habit has been discovered.

‎A recent study has found that children of fathers who are habitual smokers may face metabolic problems in the future. Metabolic problems affect the body’s ability to control blood glucose and increase the risk of diabetes.

‎Research conducted at the University of California in the United States stated that smoking is one of the most important causes of poor health and by quitting this habit it is possible to avoid many diseases. According to the study, quitting smoking may help reduce the risk of developing diabetes, and it is particularly important for men.

‎Experiments were conducted on mice in the research and it was discovered that when male mice use nicotine, a substance found in tobacco, negative changes occur in the metabolic functions of their offspring. According to the research, the results indicate that the smoking habit of men may increase the risk of diabetes in their children.

‎During experiments on mice, it was found that the offspring of male mice had lower insulin levels while fasting glucose levels were also lower than normal. Changes in liver functions were also observed in the research, which increase the risk of problems such as obesity and diabetes.
