Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally launched a free cardiac surgery program for heart patients across the province, aimed at providing timely and quality treatment to citizens at no cost.
Under this program, patients will receive free treatment for various heart diseases, including open heart surgery, at government and selected private cardiac centers. This facility will be available to permanent residents of Punjab and is expected to particularly benefit low income patients.
According to government officials, several hospitals have been included in the initial phase of the program, where cardiac surgery facilities are being made operational. The initiative aims not only to improve access to treatment but also to reduce long waiting lists for heart patients.
Billions of rupees have been allocated annually for this project, while the Chief Minister has directed that fast and effective healthcare services be ensured for patients in the coming months.
Additionally, helplines and contact centers have been established under the program to assist patients and their families, making the process of registration, information, and guidance easier.
The Punjab government stated that this initiative reflects its commitment to improving the healthcare sector and providing basic medical facilities to the public, which will bring significant relief to heart patients.
