Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that malaria is a treatable disease, however if precaution and timely diagnosis are not ensured, it can prove to be fatal.

‎In his special message on World Malaria Day, Murad Ali Shah said that malaria is not just a common fever, but in case of negligence it can become a serious threat. He emphasized that raising public awareness against it is extremely necessary. According to the Chief Minister, the Sindh government is committed to making the province free of malaria and various measures are underway for this purpose.

‎He urged citizens to keep their homes and surroundings clean so that mosquito breeding can be prevented. He also advised that as soon as symptoms appear, people should immediately visit the nearest government hospital where malaria diagnosis and treatment are being provided free of cost.

‎While declaring the use of mosquito nets and other preventive measures essential for protection against malaria, he also directed the local government department to make the schedule of drain cleaning and disinfectant spraying more effective.

‎The Chief Minister said that cooperation of international organizations and civil society is also indispensable for the elimination of malaria. He paid tribute to the services of health workers and said that providing a healthy and disease free environment to future generations is the government’s priority.
